History of the Babrinessua centre
The Babrinessua Centre is based on a
development
model from Denmark, which started in about 1800.
During his theological studies from 1985 to 1988 in Kolding,
Denmark, pastor Jacques Nignan got interested in the life and works
of the Lutheran pastor Frederik Grundtvig and got the vision to
start a biological and pastoral agricultural college in Burkina
Faso: the BABRINESSUA CENTER.
|
Indeed Frederik Grundtvig is the initiator of thousands of schools
for the ordinary people during the 18th century in Denmark, aiming a
change of mentality among his contemporaries to make an enduring
development at the base possible.
In his vision
the school had to be
situated in the field.
His basic ideas: FEEDING, AWAKENING, EDUCATING.

 |
|
 |
In this way pastor Nignan started immediately after his studies on
his return
in November 1988 his production activities
in Poura, 120 miles from Ouagadougou, the capital city of Burkina
Faso. He started planting 300 mango trees in 1989 and then the
exploitation of 5 hectare for banana and papaya solo in 1992.
|
|
In 1999 the activities were moved to Kamsaongtenga, 10 miles from
his residence in Ouagadougou, because Poura was too far away to be
able to manage well the project and the workers.
